A Halloween Carol

A Halloween Carol reimagines Dickens’ ghost story as an immersive journey through memory, identity, and Halloween itself.

This Halloween, Jacob Marley rattles his chains again, but this time, Ebenezer Scrooge has nothing to do with it. The Ghosts are here for you. A Halloween Carol is an intimate, interactive theatrical adventure inspired by A Christmas Carol and the deliciously strange Halloweens of childhood. Hidden within The Count’s Den in DTLA, a succession of living worlds awaits, inhabited by ghosts, oddballs, lost souls, and things for which there is no particularly good explanation. Only two guests enter at a time. There are seats. No stage. No fourth wall. You’ll move through the experience yourselves, meeting its inhabitants face-to-face. They’ll talk to you. They’ll listen. They may ask for your help. What you say and do makes your journey entirely different from everyone else’s. Created in collaboration with nonprofit Immersive Art Collective, A Halloween Carol combines the intimacy of immersive theatre with the mischievous pleasures of Halloween: ghost stories and games, mystery and surprise, laughter and scares, autumn nostalgia and things lurking in the fog. The result is playful and eerie, funny and frightening, and steeped in the unease of a childhood fever dream. Come with a date. Or your best friend. Or come alone and be paired with a stranger. In fact, that is the best way to experience it. Halloween gives us permission to pretend to be someone else. But what if we’ve had it backwards? What if Halloween is the one night we can finally stop pretending and ask… Which Masks Do YOU Wear? IMPORTANT TICKETING INFORMATION: Each time slot has 2 tickets available. Buy 1 ticket: You are attending solo, and will likely be paired with another solo guest who purchases the second ticket.
