360 and VR: An Introduction
Reimagine how street photography, architecture or portraiture can look with the 360 capture process.
Reimagine how street photography, architecture, or even portraiture can look with the 360 capture process. VR and 360 imaging has unique and exciting potential and is now quite user-friendly, especially with inexpensive consumer 360 cameras. Along with weekly assignments, we’ll explore both the aesthetic possibilities of the medium and how it relates to traditional ideas of light and composition, as well as the technical aspects of capturing, processing, and sharing 360 still and video imagery. We’ll also examine ways to present and view this work: Google Cardboard viewer, as video, or even as a traditional print. We’ll also explore touch-interactive 3D spheres, stabilized and auto-tracking video, and live-streaming 360 imagery. Don’t know what these things are? Don’t worry, we’ll cover it! Expand your vision of image-making beyond the frame and open up to entirely new ways of seeing and imagining the world.
