by Fionna
The Raindance Immersive Film Festival has just concluded, and in this list of visually stunning new worlds, we'll highlight some of the most gorgeous VRChat worlds form the nominees, as well as some of the most visually interesting new worlds and art galleries in VRChat.
Raindance nominees:
Experience the wonder and adventure of ancient Egypt in Treasure Heist, the winner of Best Immersive Experience. Packed with cinematic action, be sure to take a moment to appreciate the stunning environments in this world as you solve puzzles and journey through the underworld.
The winner of Best Immersive World is the masterpiece ORGANISM. While it has been out for a few months, its worth another visit through this dreamlike universe of Russian architecture and surreal visuals.
Oxymore is an hour-long concert by Jean-Michel Jarre, featuring electronic music and a backdrop of a vast city teeming with robotic characters, where the music transports you from scene to scene. Jarre's hologram can be seen manning the DJ equipment in each unique environment. You'll find yourself dancing along with the world's inhabitants.
Two more nominees highlight the beauty of nature: Namuanki is a pschedelic, alien-like ocean world full of pulsing, mysterious beings and mind-bending landscapes. Lost Valley Lake Retreat will take you to a summertime resort in the mountains of Canada, with activities and peaceful vistas around every turn.
Munich 72 was a winner of both the Best Debut and Social Impact awards, in its respectful memorial to the events of the 1972 Olympics. Stylized to capture the moods and events while highlighting the human element of the story, this world will have you curious to learn more about this chapter of history.
The next four worlds are all art galleries, but each with unique curations, artworks, and experiences. The Metropolis 7 Gallery highlights science-fiction-inspired themes using AI art. The Lighthouse Art gallery showcases dizzying sculptures and digital abstract art. Finally, Metamorphosis has turned the process of creating a 2D drawing into a three-dimensional animated visualization of the process of creation, resulting in art that is more than the sum of its parts. Finally, head over and appreciate the irreverent pop art featured in twinArmageddon's Art Gallery.
Then it's time to visit two of the most visually interesting worlds of the late half of 2022. Journey's End is a highly-detailed medieval village ruined by coastal floods, with dark ruined buildings and stuffning tower views. Astral Bounds is a maze-like town with hidden secrets unlocking music and jaw-dropping light shows in the sky.
Whatever form of beauty you're looking for in VR, one of these worlds is sure to whet your appetite. Enjoy your feast for the eyes!
