Inter-Acting Workshops (Remote)
Turn audience members into active participants. They won't just see the story, but live it!
First Monday of each month! Virtual at 10am PT, in-person in LA 7pm PT Want to learn how to turn audience members into active participants? This workshop will cover techniques to empower audience members to not just see the story, but live it! The training is based on foundations from the work of Jeff Wirth, who wrote the book Interactive Acting. I was lucky enough to train with him for 9 months as part of the Interactive Deep Dive, where we worked full-time on participant-driven experiences. The quickest way I've found to describe our team's work is to compare it to The Truman Show (or Jury Duty) if Truman (or Ronald), knowingly opted into their fictional reality. If you're interested, you can read more about that work in this article series in The Verge: https://bit.ly/SimulifeDiaries The long-term vision is to develop a team that meets consistently to dig deeper into the possibilities of interactive narratives, and eventually develop productions together. We will focus mainly on performance techniques, but will also cover principles for writing and design for interactive experiences. If you are not an actor, you are still welcome to join! Reverse or flexible payment is available for those who need financial support (more details in registration form).
Audience Role
Attendees are expected to actively participate with their cameras on. If you are not an actor you can opt out of scene work or play as an "audience participant" instead of an interaction.
